Battleheart [Mobile Game]

Considering this is my first post in what really is my first [gaming] blog, I decided I'd write a review on a game that's still pretty fresh in my mind. Where should I start. First of all the game under review is Battleheart. Yes, I decided to start off with something easy to review such as a mobile game. At least I hope it'll be pretty easy to review. Let's begin.

[Gameplay] [Story] [Fun] [Sound] [Innovation]

I'd like to start with gameplay, yes it's a mobile game [android/ios] so really you can't expect any boundaries to be pushed. It's a pretty simple game and really easy to get the hang of. The class structure is just your average tank, dps, magic, and support. The largest your party can get up to is four, that being said customization is pretty limited. At least how I see it your average party can either consist of Tank/DPS/Magic/Support or T/D/S/S but if you're really creative T/S/M/M.

Gameplay in itself is just as simple as selecting who to target. I know that really doesn't sound too fun but believe me Battleheart is surprisingly addictive. When it comes down to mobile gaming I really don't find myself wanting a game that's going to get me to consumed with gameplay, like the many Gameloft titles, I just want a simple game that's going to kill some time. That's really where Battleheart shines. It's a simple game that you can play anywhere and it's a great way to waste your precious time. So I'll give gameplay a 7.5/10.

[7.5/10] [Story] [Fun] [Sound] [Innovation]

Haha. Story? Is there really a story to be told? No. Hmm... it could be about the brilliant adventures of Gustav, Feung, Lucille and Edwardo traveling throughout the kingdom of [uhmm] kingdoms... slaying monsters and more monsters. I give this a solid x/10. [Meaning it won't be tallied in the final score]

[7.5/10] [x/10] [Fun] [Sound] [Innovation]

It's hard to define fun. It's not like I got all pumped up while playing this and of course this game is no Heavy Rain. I just can't say it's not fun though. The bosses are pretty fun to fight against. I found myself redoing boss levels a couple of times. I'd give fun a 7/10.

[7.5/10] [x/10] [7/10] [Sound] [Innovation]

I'll be honest. I played the game muted most of the time. Occasionally I would turn the volume up but I wasn't really fond of the battle sounds. So I'll just say I'm not equipped to rate this anything other then x/10.

[7.5/10] [x/10] [7/10] [x/10] [Innovation]

Last but not least! Is this game innovative? Not really. It's really just a game with the same quality of a well designed flash games. You can find many of them on Kongregate in fact. It's just nice having one on your phone that works pretty good. If I were to rate this section, I would give it a 5/10 but that's kind of an outlier.

[7.5/10] [x/10] [7/10] [x/10] [x/10]

To wrap this up I do have a gripe about this game. TARGET SELECTING!
It gets a pain when your little adventurers get cluttered and swarmed with enemies. It's not game-breaking, mostly just a minor annoyance. Especially when you're trying to select your cleric to heal everyone and you keep on clicking on your mage or rogue.

Anyways let me bust out my calculator and.... the final score is:

7.25

I'd recommend it if you're looking to spice up your android or ios device.
